YOUR CHARACTER'S LIKES
*Animals: Not just cute fluffy ones, but any kind of animal holds a spot in his heart, even extremely out there ones like crabs, and eels.
*Ice and Snow: May seem odd that a pirate would like heavy chunks of ice, but with a good enough knowledge of the conditions, it can be a pirate’s best trap.
*Celebrations: Songs, dancing, laughter, the occasional bar fight; nothing can go wrong with some fun, even if it does lead to a broken window or a broken door.
*Cooking: Despite being banned from cooking for the ship, mostly due to the smell and ingredients, he is a really good cook; just close your eyes when eating.
*Booze: Don’t need to go into too much detail here, he enjoys a bit of alcohol at times, and can drink quite a bit despite his small frame.
*His crew members: Grant it they had gotten him into trouble on numerous occasions, Tino still holds his crew members close.
YOUR CHARACTER'S DISLIKES
*When others look down on him: Often the butt of others jokes because of his size, Tino has grown to hate being looked down upon for any reason and it is best described as to not do it.
*Long periods of extreme heat: He hates extremely warm and arid places. Combine this with his body naturally adapted to the cold and snow of his homeland leaves him to be a very annoyed person when it comes to deserts or anything close to them.
*Being Alone: It’s not to say that Tino has issues taking care of himself, or that he is codependent; it’s just the concept of being the only person for miles around or the only noise in a deafening room just leaves a bad feeling in him.
*Not having a say in the matter: This more involves when he doesn’t have a say in the matter in things that involve him. He wants to know of everything on the table before he makes a decision.
*Being Overpowered: Tino hates when others can get an advantage over him because of his size; and is one of the main reasons why he prefers fighting at a distance.
FEARS
*Being alone: Since Tino was young he always hated both physically and emotionally being alone. It could easily be from the times he would get lost on his way home, or from the times people would bully him about his frail size. Overall Tino always tries to find and surround himself with people he knows, and if often seen with a small dog wrapped in his arms.
*Fire: Tino has always had a fear of flames since he was a child, and has never overcome the fear of large flames.
QUIRKS/ODDITIES/HABITS
*His skull: Not so much of his physical skull, but a mask that he wears when involved in various pirating duties.
*Games: Tino has always been a fan of ways of passing time from the common as cards, or even less normal types such as spear throwing, and wife carrying races.
*Smile!: Tino is always smiling and can even be smiling when in the heat of combat.
GOALS
*To keep his crew safe: Tino is always willing to do anything to keep his crew safe. He is even known to go on near-suicidal missions to keep his crew together.
*Snipe record: He always wanted to be the best sniper, and refuses to stop practicing until he feels he’s the best sniper on the sea.
*Rebuilding the former Finland: The only goal Tino isn’t open about is reforming his family’s homeland. After coming across the old map that showed how countries were once divided, he decided he was going to scrape a pirate group together, large enough to free the land that was once Finland and bring a new shift of power to the current lands.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
He has a scar on his chest from one of the missions that he worked on.
OVERALL PERSONALITY
Tino, after being under the feet of bullies for most of his childhood, has to at times lack confidence in his own abilities and feel that he would let people down. Despite the several hardships he’s endured he doesn’t seem to get depressed easily take solace in the festivals and holidays he has kept close all his life. His cheery mood is often kept by a leveled head and a slight optimistic attitude, and he often is seen wearing a warm smile. His overall gentle and kind spoken demeanor often sets himself aside from people his age, especially the ones that he had known back in his home town. It is best described that this outward appearance masks who he is. He does have a soft side for small, furry, animals, and anything cute and adorable. He does miss the snow and ice of his home country, and despite how he well hides it; the feeling is really obvious when he is caught staring off into space on an extremely hot day. Tino does have a tendency to nod a lot when people are talking to him, not so much out of boredom, he just tries to find a way to agree with various ideas.
His softened and laid back attitude often hides the calculative mind that tracks small details and events that catches eye. Those who get to fully understand the Finnish lad get to know that gentle spirit who has a tendency to talk, and talk, and talk, way too much hides a cold, calculative, and intelligent mind. He does have a side to him where he is able to be a fierce force in a fight, and despite how this is seen very rarely, it is known for being quite terrifying compared to his usual cheerful and mature mind set. When in the heat of battle, Tino becomes a full monster, and even shows a thirst for the unmistakable grasp of fame and fortune of a fight. This often leads to him having more energy and to be able to withstand extended times of heightened intensity. The one thing that would have a chance of pulling out Tino’s darker side outside of a fight is looking down at him, or to bully others. He is slightly paranoid of those around him, to the point he almost always carries a small dagger on him at all times. His daggers are one of the few things he has of his family, and actually have the old flag of Finland in crystals on the handles.
BACKSTORY/HISTORY
Tino has never had the best life, as a young child his mature attitude always separated him from his peers, and he was always pushed around by larger students because of the way he acted. He hated the way the others at the school always treated him, and forcibly separated him from themselves. Because of this Tino had spent most of his childhood reading pirate novels, and fantasizing about sailing the seas. This, along with making a few friends, had kept him amused and for the most part happy for a good portion of his childhood.
It wasn’t until he was a little older that everything fell out from under him, as if the world itself wanted to swallow him whole. After what was supposed to be a peaceful sleepover at his friend’s house, led to him being thrown into the way of the world. The news came but the parents of his friend kept the two from the window as they recognized the odd glow from a few streets down. It wasn’t until an officer tried to explain that the teenage Tino needed to come with them. The feeling encased him as his fears got the best of him, and his feet instinctively carried him to his home. It was there he stood in place, frozen with fear as he watched the family home in a blaze against the night sky. He could tell what he was feeling, on one hand he wanted to try and rescue his parents, on another he wanted to just escape, and another side of him wanted to just fall and start to curse through tear stained eyes at the events that just happened.
Tino at the time just receded into himself. He hadn’t spoken to anyone for a year, and was forced into an orphanage to watch over him, but this place was more of a living hell to him. The other kids looked down at him because of his mute emotionless state. It wasn’t until one of the other orphans purposely burned one of the few photos he had of his parents, and it was then something snapped inside of him. Needless to say, the other teen never forgot what Tino was capable of, and the entire building feared the blond teen. This had continued for a few years, mostly with Tino getting by with just his books and the possessions he had left, including two daggers, a silver necklace, and the only book that somehow survived the fire, which was an old atlas which showed what the world was like before the power shift in the nations, back when there were almost too many countries to count.
It was these items that gave him the idea. He wanted to bring back the pride of his homeland, where he could finally call home. In the middle of the night he took leave of the orphanage, and spent what little money he could bring together and left for another land, any land, he didn’t care where he was when it was over, but he just wanted to be away from his memories until he felt he could face them. It was there he landed in Brasilium. Not having any money or home, Tino took up a job as a bartender, working for a decreased pay in exchange for the room above the bar. He had kept to himself, for the first part but was able to put on a smiling mask when needed. That was until he started hearing tales of pirates. It had felt like the books he read when he was younger, and decided that he would try and get noticed for one of the ships. After about a year of working as a barkeeper, he soon became accustom with the various people who would come and go sometimes for months on end, until one of them brought him a flier for a shooting tournament. H knew he could do amazingly well, but doubts about being able to win. He shook the thought as he approached the tournament area, and managed to out best the competition. He was putting everything together when he took notice of a ship being put together. He studied what appeared to be the crew, and took note of the way they acted. He had learned of several inner working of pirates from the years as a barkeeper, and figured he might be able to start here with getting his goal done.
After a few days aboard the ship Nox, a battle broke out with another ship, causing Tino to have to engage his enemy. As the battle rage, the plan ran through his head, find anything explosive on the ship, signal, set it off, and run like hell. Well for the most part it was a success. Tino shot the gun out the window into the air, in a fashion only someone watching for it would notice, and lit the fuse. But as he was making his escape, something went wrong. A flash before a loud noise erupted as he was thrown from the ship, through a few pieces of already weakened wood, and into the ocean. He remembered the pain he felt in his chest, and the dizziness from the blood he was losing, but he found the strength to hold on at least until he could be found. The last memory he had was being pulled back on the ship and smiling at his crewmates. The next thing Tino remembered was coming to, and being told that the captain wanted him to start work as Boatswain. It was also then that he told his captain, and the only other person to know, his true goal for his ancestral homeland.
Light feet echoed as a young blond walked through the hard floor gym. A heavy backpack slung from his shoulder, holding everything he was going to need for the day. He took note of the other students around him; few had remained before heading off to another class. Violet eyes closed, as the young teen seemed to mumble to himself.
Within a few seconds, Tino found himself on the floor staring at the eyes of an older student who was glaring down at him. "I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention." Tino pulled himself up, and tried to apologize again, when he felt one of the hands shove him back to the floor. "Gah," Tino crashed into the wood floor. No sooner had the pain hit him, that the cry had escaped his lips. The young blond glared up at the other teens, wondering if they knew who they were messing with. Damn, I guess I don't have any choice. His mind raced as he tried to think of what to do, as the four older teens closed in on him.
Tino quickly jumped to his feet, and backed slowly against the wall as he tried to keep an eye on every one of them. He glared in anger as he realized that no one else was around. He pulled is fist up into one of the basic self-defense poses that they taught him in class, his violet eyes carved into the eyes of his attackers. If I could get some distance I might be able to take care of them with my sling shot.
