The midnight watch...
Morrighan didn't mind though. It was when the ship was the most beautiful, bathed in a ghostly day of the moon. It was also when she could snatch a bottle from her hidden stash of fine whiskey. The other crew members were notorius for taking what didn't belong to them. And that included Morrighan's very expensive whiskey, the bastards!
So off went the redhead to sneak out some booze and to enjoy the fine evening. She easily acquired the bottle and stole away to a nice little corner to begin her night of drinking.
She had been on the ship for a good bit of time. Ever since she met the captain, she had given herself, body and soul, to the pirate life. She revelled in making the easy lives of the upper class a little harder. She had such a distaste for the entire class, she enjoyed taking their wares and losing them their precious money.
Ever since Morrighan turned her back to her previous life she had made her distaste clearly known. And her favorite way of doing so was finding the rich merchant's private stock of liquor. The fine bottle she opened this night was straight from one of her families merchant ships private stocks. It was a strange sense of finality in whatever remained for her back there.
It was a sure feeling that there would never be an arranged marriage and many many children screaming in her future. She wouldn't ever lead the life of a spoiled noble woman. She would live free by the code or die by the noose, or preferrably in a blaze of glory in battle. Whichever, she was sure, she wouldn't feel the oppressed weight of social obligation ever again. And that bottle was her toast to her best loved freedom.
