YOUR CHARACTER'S LIKES
Pastries - Lucía has always been a bit of a glutton, ever since she was a child. She enjoys any kind of pastries, particularly those of French-inspired cuisine.
Keeping up with appearances - Lucía can never have a hair out of place. She is rather vain and prefers to look her best at all times. Not really to prove anything or impress anyone, either - she simply hates it when she's not looking her best.
Generally winning - Lucía is a sore loser. Always has been, always will be. She isn't exactly the most subtle winner, either. She has a habit of rubbing it into peoples' faces when she knows that she has won.
Cooking/baking - With a love for pastries as great as Lucía's, one must know, at the very least, how to feed that hunger themselves. Baking has grown to be one of her favorite hobbies.
Her crew - Although Lucía will easily come off as bossy and crude towards the men on her ship, she really does care deeply about each of their well-being. Although some of the men who had taken her in when she first joined the ship as a stow-away have died off, Lucía has grown to live with the fact that this crew is her family, no matter how many new-editions are added.
Being treated like she means something - As someone who loves attention and feeling wanted, Lucía will constantly do anything to make sure she keeps herself in the spotlight. Although she has proven herself to her crew many times over, Lucía has been known to be clumsy and carless when introduced to a new title on her ship, and thus, new duties. She tries to prove herself capable of new duties and adventures, and is always willing to take whatever the Captain throws at her, in favor of feeling worthy.
YOUR CHARACTER'S DISLIKES
Losing - As mentioned above, Lucía is one to much rather enjoy the excitement of winning than the stench of failure!
When people comment on her height - Lucía is rather short, standing little over 5 feet tall. However, the one thing she will not stand for, if anything at all, is to feel degraded. She hates it when people downsize (No pun intended) her, claiming that just because she is a girl, and just because she is petite in size, she automatically can't fight or defend herself.
Feeling ignored - Lucía has to enjoy the spotlight of the ship, otherwise she feels like nobody cares. She's a very needy young woman who thrives on constant attention from her superiors and those around her.
Degrading jobs - You can expect Lucía to be right by your side to fend off some Mariners or enemy ships, but don't expect her to swab the deck. She prefers jobs that show her true potential.
Being underestimated - As a woman on a ship full of men, and petite and svelte woman at that, Lucía isn't usually looked upon as a threat unless you know just what she is capable of. She has a loud mouth, however, and her words are her most valuable weapon.
FEARS
Death - Despite being a young woman with big attitude and big ego, Lucía fears death just as much as any other human being. Lucía is very thoughtful, and constantly ponders over just what death is. The more she thinks about it, however, the more Lucía learns to fear whatever fate has in store for her.
Losing those close to her - Call it a cliché, but Lucía can be very loyal to those who manage to get through her tough shell that covers a fragile soul. She lets very few people get close, but those who do can count on her to protect them with her life.
Insecurity in herself - As stated before, Lucía's appearance means a lot to her, and always has. However, this is moreso to cover up her insecurities about the very same appearance she tries so hard to keep neat. Lucía really has low self-esteem, but always hides that side of herself from everyone, even her closest friends. Call it vain, but one of her biggest fears is being found out about as nothing but a small, emotionally-weak girl.
QUIRKS/ODDITIES/HABITS
Cleanliness - Although Lucía is one girl who isn't afraid to get down and dirty, she is also someone who absolutely hates it when things are out of place or her workspace isn't neat and tidy. It gets to a point where she is almost OCD - each of her possessions have their place, and in their place they shall be! She constantly finds herself cleaning up after other people... without permission.
Hair-twirling - Lucía has a habit of twirling her braid around her finger when she's nervous or flustered, or sometimes even guilty. It's her ultimate tell. When she's alone, sometimes she'll even chew on the end of her braid, if she goes to bed angry or frustrated. However, this causes unsightly split-ends, which are very rarely visible, because Lucía recognizes them and constantly searches for a way to cover them up.
Unusual resentment towards men - Although her general distrust for anyone isn't uncommon at all, Lucía has always had a harder time playing nice with men. This is mainly because she feels insecure and knows from experience that, unless she acts up to the 'masculine' personality and habits, she's suddenly less of a threat and more likely to be ignored.
GOALS
- Become a stronger person, both physically and emotionally.
- Prove to her male counterpart-crewmates that she is just as capable of being a true pirate as they are.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Lucía is very dominate, to put it simply. She tends to enjoy the thought of having all eyes on her, and being the one to take the lead. Therefore, she will often come off as bossy, and controlling. The one person she will submit to without question is the Captain. Kissing up is how she got where she is now, as the Captain's First Mate.
OVERALL PERSONALITY
Conceited and rather arrogant. Lucía doesn’t always make for good conversation, but is known for being intellectual, and can be interesting to have a long talk with once in a while (When she’s not going on and on about herself, that is). Her pride often gets in her way of asking anyone for help, and she is pretty short-tempered to boot.
She will often cause arguments and bring up unsettled problems from the past to intentionally start problems with her neighbors. Lucía enjoys getting people riled up with her, just to feel like she’s a part of something. Although it’s seen as rather pathetic among those she meets, she is willing to take any attention she can get, good or bad.
Lucía is also known as one to enjoy the “finer things in life”. Despite her unlikely pirate background, she has actually been raised to be very aristocratic beforehand. This posh side of her is rarely shown on the ship, where men will simply "be men". She would much rather show off more masculinity and rebelliousness when around her shipmates and other pirates.
As expected of a sharp-tongued and quick-witted pirate, she
does not take insults lightly, and will surely come back with a sarcastic, dry remark. Lucía has this way of using her words to manipulate people, and is known back home to be very good at getting people to do her bidding.
As mentioned before, most people find it difficult to get past Lucía's hard outer-shell and get to know her better. This isn't the fault of anyone she has met, but rather her own fault. It isn't that she likes to be alone, Lucía just doesn't like to be seen for who she really is, and thinks this side of her to be weak and not befitting at all for a pirate. To most, this "defense mechanism" is thought as nothing more than Lucía just being sly, rude, and impolite.
Most people have simply given up on Lucía, not wanting anything to do with a woman who doesn't seem to want to be helped at all. It's for this exact reason that Lucía avoids trying to be friendly with people, which causes a cycle. Really, deep down Lucía is lonely, and wants to be thought of as more than "that bossy chick who won't stop bitching at everybody". The right person just has to have the determination and willpower to dig through to get to that part of her that wants to feel wanted on a more personal level.
BACKSTORY/HISTORY
Growing up in the arms of a single parent who had love to share with her many siblings, Lucía rarely felt included as a part of the family in her temporary Gallian home. Shortly after her birth in Brasilium, Lucía was shipped off to Gallia to be adopted by a man who was native to Lychnus.
For the first couple years of her life, Lucía was always thought of as "daddy's little girl". However, over time, this title slowly faded as her adoption father bit off more than he could chew and began fostering more and more children. While this was seen as irrational and neglectful of her father, Lucía knew deep down that her father was a nurturer and a caretaker who loved children. In a way, it was fitting of him to enjoy surrounding himself with children, raising children, and just having something to take care of as his own. But he got carried away, and little by little, Lucía felt more and more detatched from him.
By age 17, when Lucía had hit the zenith of a more rebellious stage in her life, she finally had enough. While, in reality, her father was spreading his affection to all of his adopted children equally, Lucía felt that he wasn't paying as much attention to her as her siblings. She left home and hitched a ride on a ship back to her homeland, Brasilium. Little did she know, this ship was a pirate ship, called the Ater.
Although expecting to be forced to put up a fight when she was found out, it turned out, the Ater was one of the least threatening of the three great pirate crews. Although skeptical of her at first, the crew was understanding of her situation, and slowly warmed up to Lucía over the course of a year. It wasn't long before they took her in as their lacky.
Starting out by washing up on deck and slowly working her way up to the Captain's right-hand man, Lucía grew to love her life as a pirate, and enjoyed the company of her crew. She felt like she was a part of something, and was finally included. Although she may get on the crew's nerves with her bossiness, the crew is still the only group of people that Lucía really feels accepted in, and she'd much rather keep the treacherous life of the scum-pirates than go back to the luxurious life she once had where she felt ignored.
Argentina felt the hand squeeze her shoulder and simply watched as Scotland went around her and began heading forward. She just stood there for a few heartbeats before beginning to follow him. Scotland was right. They were in the home stretch. They'd be out of his hellhole soon enough and back in the safety of the warehouse walls. The thought did give Argentina a little reassurance, and a little was enough for her.
Tina tossed a glance over her shoulder at the zombie one last time before quickly turning back around and scampering to catch up with Scotland. Although Argentina followed behind, she intentionally tried to stay as close to her partner as she could get without breathing down his neck. She didn't want him to go far ahead without her, and she definitely didn't want to be alone. Not after that.
Whenever the zombies came at her and not Scotland and his heavy sword, whether be from ahead or behind, Argentina swung around with ease and fired a couple rounds into their face. Unlike Scotland, she clearly wasn't tired just yet... but she wouldn't complain if she still got nice rest when they made it to the bikes. She's still up for a bottle of Argentine champagne whenever it's safe to go back to her home as well... although, that probably wouldn't be for a while...
Argentina let her eyes wander around the tunnels, letting the fingers of her free hand trace the walls as they moved onward... whenever she wasn't shooting at zombies, that is. Every so often, she'd look back at Scotland. Although it was dark, it wasn't snowing like it had been outside. By now, her eyes were completely fixed to better suit the thin illumination they had from Scotland's earpiece. She could see Scotland better than she could outside, and Argentina wouldn't hesitate to admit that he looked awful. Some of his red hair was untidily sticking out from underneath the bandanna he had tied around his head, his clothes were splattered with blood, and... wait, is that a disembodied zombie arm loosely clinging onto his sleeve?
She shook her head and began skimming around again. Argentina began reciting in her head baking recipes for pastries and cakes as she fired. Baking is her specialty, and she loves sweets of any kind. It seemed like the right thing to let her mind drift to to keep herself from being fearful and jittery. Something to keep her mind off of the child-like zombie she'd just encountered. Just as long as she didn't let her mind wander too far and begin to daydream... pulling a stunt like that could and would be the death of her in a situation like this. Argentina was well aware, and so she made sure that, no matter what she thought about, she still kept her eyes peeled and her head screwed on straight.
Although, if Scotland could read thoughts, he'd probably think her mentally unstable to be reciting recipes, all the while blowing off heads and limbs of zombies left and right.
